We were saddened to find out several months ago that our contact lens blister packs were not being recycled when we put them in our curbside recycling bin, but instead were being sorted out and directed to the landfill due to their small size. We have been trying to figure out a way to overcome this to reduce our burden on our environment, especially with our daily disposable patients who open a new pair of lenses every day. We are proud to announce that we have now found a solution. We are an official drop off site for the new Bausch+Lomb One-by-One recycling program. Now you can bring us all of your plastic contact lens blister packs, foil tops, and even the lenses themselves and we will send it to TerraCycle to be recycled. This program is the first of its kind and aims to repurpose these materials in order to reduce the burden on our landfills. As an added bonus, for every pound of contact lens packaging that TerraCycle receives, Bausch+Lomb will make a donation to the charity Optometry Giving Sight. We are excited about this new partnership and have set a goal of recycling 50 lbs of contact lens waste before Earth Day 2018. As a thank you for helping us reach this goal, we will give you $20 off your next purchase of an annual supply of contact lenses when you bring in your recyclable contact lens packaging!
