At Home Therapies for Dry Eye
There are several at-home therapies that can help alleviate your symptoms. Your optometrist can discuss these with you and help you come up with the best plan to treat your mild to moderate dry eye. We will even use these therapies to help keep you from developing dry eye symptoms when we start to see the early signs of disease.
OTC Drops
This section in the pharmacy has a plethora of options. Luckily, we carry our favorites so you don't have to be overwhelmed.
Optase Drops
We love the Optase line of eye drops. They are all preservative-free, compatible with contact lenses, and provide long-lasting relief. Your doctor will recommend the best version for your needs.
Heat Masks
Applying controlled heat to the eyelids is a great way to maintain the gland function in our eyelids.
Moist Heat Mask
Moist heat masks should be used once or twice a day to help your dry eye symptoms. They are microwaved for 15 seconds and maintain the proper level of heat for 15 minutes. Not only are they therapeutic, but it is also very relaxing to do right before you go to sleep!
Omega 3s
Supplementing with high-quality Omega 3s will help your eyes create better oils for your tears.
PRN De3
PRN makes the best omega 3 product for dry eye. It is a triglyceride-based product which allows your body to absorb the omega 3s as much as possible while not upsetting your stomach. It also consists of the perfect ratio of DHA/EPA to treat dry eye.
Prescription Drops
Sometimes, you will need more than an artificial tear. There are several prescription drops now avaiable to treat dry eye.
